About Vedic Panchang
Vedic astrology (Jyotish) is India's ancient system, rooted in the Nakshatras (27 lunar mansions) and Tithis (30 lunar days). A Tithi is the time it takes the Moon to move 12° from the Sun; the cycle runs from new moon (Amavasya) to full moon (Purnima) and back. The Panchang ("five limbs") combines Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana, and Vara to judge each day's quality.
This site computes the Moon's actual ecliptic longitude and derives the Tithi and Nakshatra from it — the same method Vedic astrologers use.
