Decade Cycles (大运)

Da Yun (大运) are the decade-long cycles that layer time over your static BaZi chart. Each cycle lasts approximately 10 years and brings a new pair of Stem/Branch energy into your life.

The direction of the cycles (forward or backward through the stems) depends on your gender and the year's stem: Yang-year males and Yin-year females move forward; Yin-year males and Yang-year females move backward. The starting age is calculated from the days between your birth and the nearest solar term.

A favorable Da Yun brings opportunity and ease; a challenging one asks for patience and strategy. Understanding your current cycle helps you time major decisions.
